RGV CPR offers American Safety and Health Institute instructor training for you to either instruct and certify employees at your workplace or to start your own full/part-time business. As an ASHI Instructor, you can teach and certify in the following courses:

How do I become an ASHI Instructor?

About the ASHI Instructor Development Course

The IDC is provided in a blended format. You will first complete online training focused on instructional knowledge, followed by a face-to-face session (see date in red above) with an authorized Instructor Trainer to practice your instructional skills. The goal of the IDC is to help you develop a base-level to teach, evaluate, and certify individuals in ASHI training classes.

 

Once you have registered and paid the course fee, you will receive email instructions on how to access and complete the online portion of the IDC, including a 60-question written exam. Successful completion of the written exam is required to attend the face-to-face session. The face-to-face session of the IDC will focus on practicing and developing the following skills: 

 

  • Facilitating a program lesson

  • Performing a skill demonstration

  • Conducting a small group practice

  • Conducting a scenario practice

  • Conducting a performance evaluation

What happens after the course?

All ASHI instructors are required to be affiliated with an approved ASHI Training Center. At the end of the course, you will be given the option to:

  • Apply to be affiliated with RGV CPR, LLC or

  • Apply to become your own training center

Affiliation with RGV CPR, LLC​

If you choose to become affiliated with RGV CPR, LLC, our staff will be available to you for mentoring on becoming an effective instructor and/or building your business. You will also have the opportunity, if you wish, to earn some extra money by teaching/or co-teaching, classes for our clients to gain experience as you grow your business. By affiliating yourself with us, there will also be no further cost to you except for the price of the certification cards you issue to your students. Prices are as follows:

 

  • CPR AED - $10.50 per card

  • First Aid - $10.50 per card

  • CPR, AED and First Aid - $15.50 per card

  • Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid - $15.50 per card

  • Bloodborne Pathogens: $10.50 per card

Becoming your own ASHI Training Center

If you choose to start your own ASHI Approved Training Center. You will need to purchase the instructor program package for the courses you wish to teach. Purchasing the program package/s activates your Training Center status. Program package prices are as follows:

 

  • First Aid: $140 (plus tax and shipping)

  • CPR AED: $140 (plus tax and shipping)

  • Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid: $195 (plus tax and shipping)

  • Bloodborne Pathogens: $95 (plus tax and shipping)

 

You will also have the opportunity to purchase certification cards directly from ASHI. Certification card prices are as follows:

 

  • CPR AED - $30.45 for sheet of 5 cards (plus tax and shipping)

  • First Aid - $30.45 for sheet of 5 cards (plus tax and shipping)

  • CPR, AED and First Aid - $53.00 for sheet of 5 cards (plus tax and shipping)

  • Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid - $53.50 for sheet of 5 cards (plus tax and shipping)

  • Bloodborne Pathogens: $30.45 for sheet of 5 cards (plus tax and shipping)
